A famous halal restaurant in Subang Jaya has been raided by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) over allegations that the curry noodle sold at the premises contained pork

According to Selangor KPDNHEP director Muhamad Zikril Azan Abdullah, five enforcement officers inspected and seized items in the form of chicken at the famous restaurant in Subang Jaya over the week.

The raid came after a viral video alleged that the curry noodle sold at the premises contained pork.

In the inspection, the enforcement officers found the restaurant has a halal certificate from the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) which is valid until 30 November this year.

The restaurant employs three Myanmar nationals as cooks

During the inspection of the kitchen section, enforcement officers found raw ingredients that were used to prepare the curry noodles. The main raw material, believed to be chicken meat, was seized for laboratory testing by experts, according to the Selangor KPDNHEP director.

“When asked by enforcement officers, the restaurant manager denied that the meat involved was pork and claimed that it was marinated chicken with barbecue seasoning. According to the manager, the supply of raw materials was ordered by the restaurant company’s headquarters,” he said in a statement.

The authorities also seized a JAKIM halal certificate and the supplier’s raw material delivery documents for investigation under the Trade Descriptions (Definition of Halal) Order 2011.

Bernama reported that Selangor KPDNHEP would continue to ensure JAKIM halal certificate holders comply with the rules as well as emphasising on cleanliness to safeguard Muslim consumers in the country.

Meanwhile, JAKIM has confirmed that the restaurant is a valid holder of its halal certification and the allegations about pork are not true
