The sticky prices tags and bar codes some shops choose to stick directly onto its items can be infuriating when they don’t cooperate – it’s likely you’ve done battle with a few this Christmas.
After you’ve lost most of your fingernails trying to get under one of the corners, any attempts to rip off the sticker usually results in it simply leaving behind a bigger mess than you started with.
You could try soaking the sticker in water to persuade it to finally move on, but one mum has shared her ingeniously simple solution to dealing with the problem – and it’s been viewed more than 4.6 million times.
TikTok user @Lexie_byers uploaded a video with the caption: “HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?! Did anyone else know??”
She says: “I have a life hack that is going to blow your mind. Well, it blew my mind. My mum taught me this a couple of days ago. Mums know everything.”
Lexie shows a stack of new cups and says she was going to run them through the dishwasher but each one has a barcode stuck to the bottom and “they’re actually pretty hard to get off”.
“Anything with a sticker tag, stop peeling it off,” she says. “Grab some tape, take your piece and stick half of it on the tag and rub it so it’s really on there. Make sure to leave a little bit of a tail.
“Then you can wax it off. Then you can peel it off, and do it all over again.”
Lexie repeats the process as she removes every sticker perfectly, leaving her stunned with the results, as seen in the video above.
People were left fuming that their own parents hadn’t passed on the same words of wisdom, as one commented: “The amount of hours that I’ve sat going to WAR with these.”
A second said: “You’ve probably saved billions in lost time.”
And another added: “All my candles with half ripped tags on them…”
